Extreme Prayer by Greg Pruett
About the Book:
What do you do when your whole spiritual life falls apart?
It is in these heart-hungry moments—when we feel overwhelmed or alone, struggle with unanswered prayers, aren’t sure what to do, or are crying out for God’s help—that we are surprisingly poised to pray the most effective kinds of prayers possible.
Extreme Prayer taps into that longing for connection with God when we need it most by teaching us to pray the kinds of prayers Jesus promised to answer with unlimited power. It’s not about how to pray more . . . it’s about praying differently, and intentionally tapping into all of Jesus’s open-ended promises in a way that achieves maximum Kingdom impact.
In Extreme Prayer, Greg Pruett searches the Scriptures to discover the kinds of prayers that God has promised to answer, challenging you to access their power and see His immeasurable glory unleashed in your prayer life
My Thoughts:
Wow...this is one powerful book on prayer! I think I can safely say it's one of the richest books and has had the most impact on my prayer life.
At first the title kind of had me hesitant. But once I dove in and had a fuller understanding of what Greg means by extreme, I was totally on board. He uses practical, sometimes humorous examples from his own life as a foreign missionary and ministry leader.
Greg also packs his book with Scripture, and practical teaching on prayer. He talks about praying in unity, praying in Jesus' name and what that truly means, and persistent prayer. That chapter was both enlightening and a bit humorous.
Again, I'm always on the look out for books to share with my husband, but since he's a pastor his reading time is brief and rare. This is a book I think he can sink his spiritual teeth into and maybe share with the church family.
My thanks to my friends at Tyndale Publishing for my advance copy via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. I highly recommend "Extreme Prayer"...and his A.C.T.I.V.E. prayer model! Want to know what that is?
You'll have to read the book!
Happy Reading!
