Reinventing Rachel by Alison Strobel

Have you ever thought you did something...I mean, you just KNEW you did it. Then, come to discover you just THOUGHT you did it? That happened to me recently...I just knew I'd told you all about this wonderful novel by Alison Strobel...and discovered I hadn't.

"Reinventing Rachel" is one of those books that just seems to pinpoint all of your doubts and struggles, carrying you along the journey with the characters in the story.

Rachel did everything right. She attended church regularly, mentored younger women, was a faithful fiance and loving daughter, and a loyal friend. So, didn't God owe her blessings and a fruitful life?

When life doesn't add up to 2 + 2 = 4, Rachel's faith derails. Turns out no one in her life is what they appear to be: her parent are divorcing, her 'best friend' is a pill popper, and her fiance might appreciate her faithfulness, but not enough to remain true to her.

So, Rachel tosses aside her life, moving across the country with an old friend, someone she once felt 'meant' to save. Can Rachel loosen up and also reach out to Daphne with her faith, or is Rachel's faith something she tossed out? One thing you know she'll learn...no matter how far you run, you can never outrun the love of the Father.

Ever have God seem to disappoint you? Ever have someone you look up to have feet of clay? Or have you tried to get it right, then have it all end up going wrong? Then you'll identify with Rachel.

Maybe you live the blessed life, and have no clue what I'm talking about. Read Rachel's story so you'll be able to relate to those who felt disillusioned and jaded...you may find out you relate to Rachel more than you first thought.

Alison Strobel has a way of writing novels for the women of today's church, and she isn't afraid to write out on a limb, hoping to reach us with stories that are filled with heart, truth and ultimately hope.

She's a 'must read' author for me, and I think you'll fall in love with her as well. That's why "Reiventing Rachel" gets five out of five bookmarks from me, with a hand mirror as a charm. A bit of good self-examination never hurt anyone, after all!

My thanks to my friends at TitleTrakk.com for my copy (and for their patience!).

Happy Reading!
