Love and Respect For a Lifetime by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs

What happens when you do a mash-up of a hit song by The Beatles and Aretha Franklin? You get the message of this book: All you need is love and r-e-s-p-e-c-t! Sorry, I couldn't resist!

But, seriously, that is the message found in this special edition of a Christian classic by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs. "Love and Respect For a Lifetime" is a quick and easy to read gift edition that takes the basic message found in the best-selling book, and is perfect for gift-giving this Valentine's Day.

Basically, Dr. Eggerichs makes the case that women absolutely need love and me absolutely need respect. Yes, it's true we need both, but when push comes to shove, that is what keeps us motivated and working at our relationships.

He uses the word-picture of pink hearing aids and blue hearing aids, and that men and women hear out of their own color. I also loved the concept that while women are 'pink' and men are 'blue', when we come together in marriage as one, we make purple...

...the traditional color of royalty and a display of all the atributes of God.

Which is not to say that singleness isn't of God, but we're talking about marriage and relationships here.

Of course, those are just the highlights of what I read...Dr. Eggerichs includes much more in the book. Each page is bite-sized and perfect for busy couples. I encourage reading the book together and discussing the information presented.
