Before the Season Ends by Linore Rose Burkard

Photobucket

Fans of Jane Austen have something new to look for! In the spirit of "Sense and Sensibility", Linore Rose Burkhard's debut novel is filled with characters that will leave you longing for more.

Ariana Forsythe is certain she is to marry a minister. Only trouble is...the town of Chesterton only has one, and he's nearly 60! To save their daughter from herself, Ariana's parents send her to an aunt in London...

...just in time for the season of debutantes to "come out". But Ariana has a mind of her own and she's not afraid to use it! Instead of shopping for a husband, she longs to fill her mind, heart and soul with culture and experiences.

A chance encounter with the rogue of London's elite sends her heart and head whirling. One problem interferes...he doesn't know Christ. And when trials hit Ariana hard, how will her faith stand up to both lost love and heartache?

Scandal can rock the most steadfast believer, no matter what time period, no matter what the social class. Ariana is more than a regency romance heroine...she is any woman who desired more than what was acceptable and wouldn't settle for less than God's best.

I'm excited about Linore's writing...and I don't even LIKE historical novels, much less regency romances. But the message of Christ permeates the pages, the dialogue is authentic and witty, and the style of writing has flair and humor.

I highly recommend "Before the Season Ends". I'm giving it four out of five bookmarks (Hey, I said this isn't my genre--don't pick on me!) with a lorgnette as a charm (any book that needs its own dictionary fascinates me!)

Watch for its release from Harvest House in December!

Happy Reading!

Hi, Deena,

Just wanted to thank you for your lovely review of my book, Before the Season Ends. I appreciate it even more since you don't normally "like" historicals! Any chance that you'll post your review to ChristianBook.com or Amazon? If not, I still am blessed by seeing it here.
Thanks again!!
Blessings,

Linore
PS: Don't miss the sequel to BTSE, The House in Grosvenor Square, coming in 2009! Let me know if I can do something with you on your blog.
