Sins of the Fathers by James Scott Bell

This is the third novel by James Scott Bell I've read, and the first I've truly enjoyed. "Sins of the Fathers" deals with corruption, loyalty, and who God really is.

Bell tackles the epidemic plaguing our nation: violent acts committed by children. Unspeakable, horrifying acts...how do we respond to these crimes? What does it say about us as a society? And who is victim and who is criminal?

Darren DiCinni is a 13-year-old who has opened fire on a sunny afternoon, kiling several Little League ball players and one adult. He did it; that isn't in question. What is in question is why he did it.

Lindy Field is an agressive, young public defender with something to prove: that she can come back after her last case, and after her nervous breakdown. Leon Colby is an agressive prosecuting attorney who wants to one day be the D.A. Both believe their right in their view.

But someone is lying...and that is the key.

"Sins of the Fathers" takes on a tough topic, adolescent violence, and gives it all the drama of the courtroom and the passion of truth and justice. While the subject matter isn't pleasant, the reading is, and I think this is a book worth picking up.

It gets 4 bookmarks from me.

Happy Reading!
