The Ten Commandments for Little Ones by Allia Zobel Nolan

Allia Zobel Nolan is rapidly becoming one of my favorite children's book authors! Her talent is a true gift from God to express Biblical teaching in a fun and easy to understand way.

In "Ten Commandments for Little Ones", Allia opens the book with a note to parents and caregivers, as well as to the little ones she wrote the book for. She continues with some background on how God gave Moses the Ten Commandments. Her tone is engaging and lively, drawing the child and the adult reader into the story.

Each of the commandments is explained in language the child can comprehend, without watering down the meaning of the Biblical text. Allia takes great care to give the child background information as to why this particular commandment is so important, and why God gave it to His people.

Allia also incorporates other true stories from the Bible to help illustrate the meaning of each commandment. For 'rule number seven' on staying faithful to your husband or wife, Allia tells the story of Joseph and the woman who wanted him instead of her own husband.

The book concludes with a short question and answer to help reinforce the story and the details, how to find more on the ten commandments in the Bible, and another note to parents, caregivers and teachers on how to reinforce the lessons in the book with the children.

Finally, a short glossary of words is included at the end. The artwork is colorful and detailed in a whimsical and fun fashion, and each commandment gets excellent explanation both in words and in pictures.

This is truly a wonderful book for children. Perfect for grandparents to read to their grandchildren, for a children's ministry, or for family time at home..."The Ten Commandments for Little Ones" suits so many needs and fits into just about any style of teaching.

I'm giving "The Ten Commandments for Little Ones" the Golden Bookmark for Children's Book Excellence and giving it my highest recommendation. I've fallen in love with Allia's Bible storybooks for children, and hoping she writes many, many more.

Happy Reading!
