Remembered by Tamera Alexander

Historical novels are not my choice of genre to read. But occasionally I find one that intrigues me enough to give it a try. "Remembered" is one of those books...and I liked it!

Veronique Girard has traveled from war-torn France to the Colorado Territory to find the only living parent she has left...the father who left in search of wealth when she was a very little girl.

Her mother has passed away, her beloved country is getting caught up in a war with no end in sight, and all she has to help her are old letters with no address to speak of. Merely a mention of an unknown place called Willow Springs.

Her ways are not our ways, as soon becomes evident when she tries to hire a driver and a carriage to take her around to the mining camps. But God smiles on her and provides an honorable escort dealing with his own issues of loss--Jack Brennan.

What follows is an unexpected journey of self-discovery that has an ending that might just having you break out the tissues.

This is the third in a series. Having picked up the story thread with this one...I can't say if you should read books one and two first, or if this can stand on its own.

Tamera's writing is genuine and her characters come to life. I especially fell in love with Lilly...oh, to have her faith! You'll fall in love with her as well, and your heart will be torn by Veronique's struggle, then mended again when...oops! Almost gave it away, didn't I??

All I'm going to say is...expect the unexpected, and don't think you've got it all figured out. Tamera is driving this enjoy the scenery!! I give "Remembered" four out of five bookmarks, with a parasol tassel. For someone who doesn't enjoy historical novels...I surprised myself with this one!!

Happy Reading!
