Circles of Fate by Pamela S. Thibodeaux

About the Book:

Set at the tail end of the Vietnam War era, Circles of Fate takes the reader from Fort Benning, Georgia to Thibodaux, Louisiana. A romantic saga, this gripping novel covers nearly twenty years in the lives of Shaunna Chatman and Todd Jameson.

Constantly thrown together and torn apart by fate, the two are repeatedly forced to choose between love and duty, right and wrong, standing on faith or succumbing to the world's viewpoint on life, love, marriage and fidelity. With intriguing twists and turns, fate brings together a cast of characters whose lives will forever be entwined.

Through it all is the hand of God as He works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

My Thoughts:

I've just finished the newest release from author Pam Thibodeaux and I feel like an emotional wreck!  Oh, the passion, faith and just LIFE that flows through this book...powerful writing indeed!

Todd and Shaunna meet in the diner she works at when she is 16, and he has just enlisted in the military to avoid jail.  Both are young, filled with life, and quickly fall in love.  Three weeks later, he deploys with the possibility of shipping out to Vietnam.

Because of uncertainty about his own future, Todd encourages Shaunna to go on to live her life, afraid to ask her to wait for his return.  This sends a cascade of life events into motion that both pull these two together and wrench them apart throughout the novel.

You won't find a mystery, a dead body, or a lot of flash and bang in "Circles of Fate".  Instead, you'll find a story of everyday living, passionate loving and learning to walk by faith.  Readers will watch as fictional characters take on flesh and bone and fall in love, wrestle with temptation, and endure loss and grief.

Through it all, a dual message rings out loud and clear.  It's a message of committed love and honoring God with all that we do.

Shaunna isn't perfect, and she wouldn't be considered a Proverbs 31 kind of woman.  She's real, and she could be your next door neighbor or one of the women in your study group.

Joe could be working alongside your husband, struggling to make ends meet and to care for the needs of his wife and family.

Todd could be the single guy you keep setting up with friends...the one who just can't seem to find that special someone, you know?

Mike could be your honorary uncle, the guy who helps out after your father is gone and helps take care of you and your mom.  The one who steps in for father/daughter events and snaps photos at your graduation.

"Circle of Fate" is a passionate Story.  Characters come within seconds of falling hard into temptation's grasp, and love is often heated and emotional.  But the writing never crosses the line into sensuality...it just tiptoes kind of close to it once in a while!

"Circles of Fate" has the feel of an epic love story, spanning decades and lifetimes of the characters and sweeping the reader along the complex timeline of events.  I truly enjoyed reading "Circles of Fate", and highly recommend the book with one caution: definitely for mature and wise readers.

My thanks to Pam Thibodeaux for my complimentary e-book in exchange for an honest review of "Circle of Fate".

Happy Reading!
