About the Book:
“Don’t waste your pain,” says unlikely missionary Avis Goodhart. She didn’t – and neither should you.
Despite a background of childhood abuse, dyslexia, and marital infidelity, Avis took her first international mission trip at age fifty. The church, school, and orphanage she later founded in northern Peru, all products of both her pain and her radical obedience to the Lord, have brought thousands of others out of the dust.
This compelling story of an ordinary woman who serves God in extraordinary ways will challenge, inspire, and empower you to:
* Eliminate excuses from your life
* Recognize that in God’s kingdom, availability matters more than ability
* Allow your pain to produce – not prevent – your obedience
* Serve the Lord with the same abandon shown by one unlikely missionary
My Thoughts:
One of the hazards of being an avid reader is the desire to quick read. So many books, so little time, you know? But then God sends a book my way that causes me to pause, savor and ponder. A book that could be read in a matter of hours, but instead takes me days to finish, because there is so much to digest.
A life-changing book.
That's the kind of book "Out of the Dust" turned out to be. I was captured in the first chapter, mesmerized by the history of Avis Goodhart, and marveled by the work God was doing through the most unlikely of missionaries.
Along the way, as you discover Avis' story, you'll meet others that followed the call...and those stories are just as amazing. Regardless of your views of women in ministry, set those aside and pick up "Out of the Dust". You will be truly blessed, and quite possibly called to join Avis in God's work with the people of Peru.
My thanks to my friends at Life Sentence Publishing for my copy in exchange for an honest review. "Out of the Dust" is money well spent twice over: you get an inspiring book and all proceeds go to support Go-Ye Ministries!
Happy Reading!
