Beyond The Storm by Carolyn Zane

About the Book:

After a tornado rips through her town, store owner Abigail comes across a piece of fabric from a wedding dress among the devastation. Abigail is moved to start collecting other swatches of fabric she finds – her neighbor’s kitchen curtains, a man’s necktie, a dog’s bed – which she stashes in shopping bags. As she pursues her seemingly absurd quest, horrible realities spark the question, “What kind of a God would allow such tragedy?”

As she struggles to reconcile her right to happiness amidst the destruction, Abigail begins piecing together a patchwork quilt from the salvaged fabric in hopes it will bring some peace. But a new relationship with Justin, a contractor, may require too much of her fragile heart. Will her pain and questions of faith give way to the courage to love?
My Thoughts:

I just had to introduce you to a wonderful new series of books from Abingdon Press!  Each story has a different author, and each is about a quilt of some kind.  The stories are unique and pack a heartfelt punch that you wouldn't imagine, considering the brevity of the novels (they average around 225 pages) and subject matter.

Carolyn Zane's "Beyond The Storm" had me WEEPING!  I read most of it in the car on a brief road trip with my husband.  He kept looking over at me to make sure I was okay.  I told him it was just the book and he replied, "Wow...that must be really good!"

And yes, it is.  Have tissues handy, because Abigail is going to take your heart on a journey of great magnitude.  You'll feel the emotions of everyone in the town as they work to recover from a natural disaster that takes away far too much.

The romance is sweet without being cheesy or over-the-top.  You can't label these romance novels...that doesn't do them justice.  And yet the love story contained in these pages is epic in nature.  It transcends the common and enters the holy and the sacred.

This was the first title I read in the "Quilts of Love" series (I've since devoured them all--that I can get my hands on) and it was an incredible introduction to an even more incredible series.

I received an advance copy of "Beyond the Storm" from Abingdon Press via Wynn-Wynn Media in exchange for an honest review.  Now, I am a sucker for a series, but this one is special.  And I'm hooked!  "Beyond the Storm" is highly recommended.

Happy Reading!
