Vanished by Irene Hannon

Vanished

From the Back of the Book:

Reporter Moira Harrisons is lost. In the dark. In a thunderstorm. When a confusing detour places her on a rural, wooded road, she's startled by the sudden appearance of a lone figure caught in the beam of her headlights. Though Moira jams on her brakes, the car careens across the wet pavement--and the solid thump against the side of the vehicle tells her she hit the person before she crashes into a tree on the far side of the road.

A dazed Moira is relieved when a man opens her door, tells her he saw everything, and promises to call 911. Then everything fades to black. When she comes to an hour later, she is alone. No man. No 911. No injured person lying on the side of the road. But she can't forget the look of terror she saw on the person's face in the instant before her headlights swung away. The person she hit had been in trouble. She's sure of it. But she can't get anyone to believe her story--except a handsome former police detective, now a private eye, who agrees to take on the case.

From the very first page, readers will be hooked into this fast-paced story full of shocking secrets from fan-favorite Irene Hannon. Vanished is the exciting first book in the Private Justice series: Three justice seekers who got burned playing by the rules now have a second chance to make things right.

My Thoughts:

What a fantastic start to a fresh, new series by one of my new favorite suspense authors!  "Vanished" poses the question: would you believe your own eyes if everything and everyone was against you...and if so, how far would you go to find the truth?

Thankfully, Moira digs in her heels and pursues the truth while pursuading her new PI to take the case.  Fortunately, Cal Burke has a heart for justice and a ton of experience in ferreting out deeply buried truth.  His time as a homicide detective and his love for truth make him the perfect man for Moira...

...in more ways that one!  Written with just the right amount of detail and the perfect twists and turns for a quality 'whodunit',  Irene Hannon has nailed a page-turning suspense story to my 'keeper' shelf...this is one novel I could easily read more than once, just to catch all the nuances with each read.

A few things are obvious...but that's deliberate.  Irene has perfected the art of just how much to give away in order to keep you turning pages into the wee hours as you tell yourself, "Just one more chapter"...until you've devoured the book.

I received a copy of "Vanished" from Revell Publishing in exchange for an honest review, and honestly, "Vanished" is highly recommended.  Irene's novels are truly 'can't miss fiction'...and I can hardly wait for the next one!

Happy Reading!
