When A Heart Stops by Lynette Eason

From the Back of the Book:

Spunky and outgoing, nothing much bothers medical examiner Serena Hopkins--except for the thought of falling in love again. But when a serial killer is picking off her former classmates, Serena's life becomes intertwined with her old high school crush, FBI agent Dominic Allen. Is the secret she's keeping putting her next on the killer's hit list? Can she trust Dominic with the truth before it's too late?Intense, emotional, and fast-paced, When a Heart Stops will have readers up late as they race to the finish to find out what happens.

My Thoughts:

Of all Lynette Eason's romantic suspense novels, "When A Heart Stops" is probably my least favorite---which still leaves it in my Top 10...just down toward the bottom.  Two storylines tend to tangle, and at times the backstory overshadows the main tale, creating frustration for the reader...me.

Plus, I didn't connect with Serena in the book, and Dominic's persona felt forced.  His character never really flowed, and that kept the romance from flowing naturally.

Saving the book for me was the murderer...and yes, I know how awful that sounds.  But the murders were well crafted and the way Lynette executed each scene kept me guessing through the entire story.

I received my copy of "When A Heart Stops" from Revell in exchange for an honest review, and this is mildly recommended.
Happy Reading!
