My Thoughts:

Where were these books when I was raising my kids?  More than that, where were these books when I was being raised?  Nicole O'Dell is a rapidly rising star in the world of YA books, tackling tough topics in a no-nonsense style.  In my opinion, she's joining forces with Melody Carlson as a heavy-hitter that speaks teen-speak...but also parent-speak as well.

Her "Hot Buttons Series" gives parents information, facts and statistics, and real-life scenarios to share with their children.  Each book is topic specific, but covers a lot of ground in few pages.  And Nicole doesn't mince words...if it's able to come against our children and teens, she's on the front lines preparing us for battle.

I have a hard time saying I enjoyed the books, because the topics are far from comfortable.  But I did enjoy them, because I could see parents learning how to talk with their children and teens intelligently and how they could prepare their sons and daughters for just about any possibility.

Nicole O'Dell is a mom, a radio speaker, and a fantastic author of both fiction and non-fiction.  Her "Scenarios" fiction series is one of my favorites, very engaging and believable, and it allows the reader to see life from both the healthy and the unhealthy choice.

Her "Hot Buttons Series" combines facts with fiction, and gives anyone working with younger people an excellent tool.  And we can look forward to more editions in the months to come...she's not done yet!
