Dying To Read by Lorena McCourtney
From the Back of the Book:
All she wanted was a paycheck. What she got was a murder.Cate Kinkaid's life is . . . well, frankly it's floundering. Her social life, her career, her haircut--they're all a mess. Unemployed, she jumps at the chance to work for her PI uncle, even though she has no experience and no instincts. After all, she is just dabbling in the world of private investigating until she can find a "real" job.
All she has to do for her first assignment is determine that a particular woman lives at a particular address. Simple, right? But when she reaches the dark Victorian house, she runs into an hungry horde of gray-haired mystery readers and a dead body. This routine PI job is turning out to be anything but simple. Is Cate in over her head?
My Thoughts:
So, what do you do when you stumble upon a possible murder with multiple suspects? Call Cate Kindkaid, inexperienced private investigator! Turn her loose and she'll turn over clues faster than you can bail her out of jail...or the trunk of a car...or a locked closet...
...or many of the other sticky situations she seems to get herself in while hunting down a murder suspect. Her 'PI Gene' has Cate convinced that fall wasn't an accident, but how to prove it?
With a hunky side-kick, a clever and overweight feline friend and a host of true characters, Cate is on the case. This story is light-hearted (even though it deals with some serious stuff) and witty. Cate is adorable, and easy to love. Especially for...oh, no...we won't go there!
I received a copy of "Dying to Read" from Revell Publishing in exchange for an honest review. I honestly can hardly wait for the next installment in the Cate Kinkaid files...I just hope Cate can stay out of trouble long enough for Lorena to provide another story!
Highly Recommended.
Happy Reading!
