A Killer Among Us by Lynette Eason

I love, love, LOVE good suspense...and Lynette Eason has become a favorite 'must-read' author. Her newest book in the "Women of Justice" series is her best yet. I'm just hoping it isn't the final story in this amazing series.

Kit Kenyon is working out her new relationships: new partner on the job, new family she's just discovered, and a new relationship with her adoptive parents. All of this, plus performing as a first-rate hostage negotiator.

Now a serial killer is on the loose, and he's one of the worst Spartanburg has ever seen. Gruesome kills, mysterious messages left with the body....and no apparent links between victims. But someone is out there, and the crimes get more twisted as the body count grows.

Detective Noah Lambert is adjusting to his new partner and her straight-forward ways. He's got issues, she's got one solution: get over it! But it's his job to protect her, and not just as his partner. Can Noah get his head out of the past and into the present, and find the value in working with a woman like Kit?

He'd better! Somehow, they have a case to solve before someone else ends up dead.

Or before the case suddenly becomes personal.

The smallest details become key to solving this case, so pay careful attention to everything. And be warned...just when you think you know who's behind it all, Lynette throws you a curve you won't see coming.

Familiar characters from previous novels come back one more time, but newcomer Kit Kenyon definitely gets the spotlight. Out of all of Lynette's "Women of Justice", I think Kit's my favorite. She's the strongest and most determined of the group. And as a hostage negotiator, she's able to think quickly and track multiple details at once.

Her adoption story strikes a chord with me as well. She's a three dimensional heroine with heart, a little attitude (okay, maybe a LOT of attitude) and issues to work through...and she's funny.

Lynette has crafted a strong series that gets better and richer with each new novel. I have a feeling "A Killer Among Us" wraps up this series. I hope I'm wrong. Either way, I can't wait to see what Lynette creates next.

My thanks to Donna Hausler at Revell for my copy of another great book. I'm giving "A Killer Among Us" five out of five bookmarks with one of those cool earpieces negotiators wear....always wanted one of those. Of course, solving crime sounds way cool to me, too these days!

"A Killer Among Us" is published by Revell and is available in bookstores everywhere.

Happy Reading!
