It has got to be the coolest feeling in the world to write a book with your daughter and have it published by one of the best publishing houses in the industry. Kimberley and Kayla Woodhouse have collaborated on a pulse-pounding debut that foreshadows great stories ahead.
When a plane crash has them stranded in the snowy mountains of Alaska, Jenna and Andie Tikaani-Gray wonder if there is simply "No Safe Haven" for them now. The return trip home was supposed to be a celebration of Andie's successful surgery...
...and instead has become a fight for survival in the harsh, blizzard conditions. With the exception of the mysterious stranger on board, no one knows where they are. Seems the family's friend and pilot wasn't to be trusted...
...and now the question is can they trust Cole Maddox to help them find their way out of this mess. Cole made a promise to Jenna's late husband that he'd watch over the girls.
Keeping secrets from Jenna and Andie becomes harder and harder as conditions on the mountain grow more precarious. Trust is also precarious for all parties involved...just how much did Jenna know about her late husband's work...and what is she hiding from Cole?
The story is captivating and the action is fast-paced. Some of the writing could be a bit tighter, but that comes with experience. Once in a while I had to remind myself that Andie was a pre-teen...at times she came across as much younger. BUT...
I loved Andie's in-your-face faith, fearless and passionate. Something tells me this character is modeled after Kayla on multiple levels!
I'm grateful to my friends at B&H for my advance copy, and so happy to tell you that "No Safe Haven" is available now in bookstores everywhere. Be watching for the second book in the series to release this summer!
For now, I'm giving "No Safe Haven" four out of five bookmark, with a first aid kit as a charm. It will come in handy on future adventures, I'm sure!
Happy Reading!
