Save the Date by Jenny B. Jones

My husband teases me all the time about my reaction when books come in the mail. He now says I'm so used to it that I rarely get excited, but when I had THIS little gem in my hands, word has it I lit up like a Christmas tree! No wonder, since it's written by one of my all-time favorite authors, Jenny B. Jones!

But, I must admit, when I read the back cover, I thought to myself, "Hmmm...feels like I've read this one before." The basic premise? Man and woman find themselves 'stuck' and in need of a faux relationship for a certain period of time...which could turn into the real deal if they don't tread carefully.

Within a chapter or two I realized, while I may have read the basic story before, it had never been told "Jenny-style", which makes all the difference in the world! Alex and Lucy took on genuine lives, fleshed out with wit, humor and heart...all trademarks of a Jenny B. Jones novel.

Lucy desperately needs money to help save the home she runs for teens aging out of the foster system (isn't that just the coolest idea you've ever heard of?). Alex is intent on winning his senate seat, but is short the votes he needs to secure a win.

When Alex offers Lucy the funding for her home if she'll merely pose as his fiance until the election results are in, she reluctantly accepts. But Alex comes from money...something Lucy despises with every fiber of her being.

And with good reason, too, as we see further into the story. Of course, just when you THINK you know where this tale is headed, Jenny throws you a lovely curve ball and takes you on a hilarious and heart-filled ride with romance and giggles along the way.

You'll see yourself in Lucy, no matter what your background is...and you'll be praying to meet someone like Alex, money or no money in his bank account. With Jenny, romance isn't the key to happiness, but she makes it a whole lotta fun to read about!

And Jenny doesn't skimp when it comes to faith in Jesus. It's a main ingredient in her stories, and she adds just the right amount to make each book deliciously satisfying. I'm not kidding, readers...you just cannot go wrong with a novel by Jenny!

My only regret is the long wait I have until she writes another story for me to get excited about! And, you can be assured, I'll light up with excitement once again when I see her name on the cover in my mailbox!!

Until then, "Save the Date" for the February 2011 release date, and my thanks to my friends at Thomas Nelson for my advance peek at this fun and delightful novel. I'm giving this one five out of five bookmarks, with a checkbook as a charm.

Happy Reading!
