Indivisible by Kristen Heitzmann

I just finished Kristen Heitzmann's new release. May I just say...

...wow.

A multi-layered feast for the imagination. One of the richest novels I've read so far this year, and the message still lingers like a sweet aroma in my mind. "Indivisible" is most definitely a must read!

Police Chief Jonah Westfall has had more than his share of personal demons to battle. His sobriety is tenuous, and his highly frictioned friendship with childhood companion Tia Manning threatens to push him over that fragile edge.

Now he has yet another puzzle on his hands: someone is mutilating animals in his small town. Could it be the work of satan-worshippers? A serial predator? Or something he could never begin to imagine?

Tia lives in isolation, minding her mother's candle shop. Except for her roommate Piper and an occasional run in with the police chief, her life is solitary confinement, punishment for sins past. But will an encounter with a stranger suffering from his own peculiar ailment push her out of her discomfort zone?

Part mystery, part romance, and part psychological thriller, "Indivisible" is Kristen's most challenging work to date. You can't zip through this one. Her writing pours like rich syrup, forcing you to savor each paragraph. Yet the story pushes forward like a baby that must see the light of day, causing you to say "just one more chapter" until you find you've finished the tale.

And what an amazing tale it is! I fell in love with the characters (especially Sarge) and longed for more time with them. This is a story I will read again, simply for the telling of the tale.

I'm giving "Indivisible" the Golden Bookmark for Richness and Multi-Layered Story and voting it a Must Read of 2010. My thanks to my friends at Waterbrook/Multnomah for my copy.

Unfortunately, you'll have to wait for yours until May 2010...but don't miss it!

Happy Reading!
