Amish Peace by Suzanne Woods Fisher

Look at your local bookstore shelves, whether you shop at a Christian bookstore or major retailer, and you'll notice a trend. More and more Amish fiction is popping up, even garnering the attention of the general media.

When you examine the Amish way of life up close and personal, it's easy to understand why. The good news is you don't have to become Amish in order to have that peace we've all seen demonstrated in recent months.

Suzanne Woods Fisher has penned a non-fiction book that examines aspects of Amish life and culture that eliminates misunderstanding and confusion, and gives clarity and depth to their way of life.

Sections include Community, Forgiveness, Simplicity and Time. The book ends with the ultimate reason for such peace: the sovereignty of God. Each chapter opens with a quote, has an easy to read story, and ends with reflections and a suggestion for plain living.

Suzanne's book is written in a quick, easy to read format, but she takes her time with each topic, being thorough and detailed, just not to the point of being tedious. Well researched and rich in information and story, "Amish Peace" fills you with the beginnings of the peace we are all searching for.

A peace that can truly only be found in God. I'm giving "Amish Peace" four out of five bookmarks, with a butter churn as a charm. I've always found them fascinating, but definitely don't have the arm strength to church even the tiniest of batches!

Happy Reading!
