Abide With Me by John H. Parker

Very few books would I label 'breathtaking'.

This is one of those few.

"Abide With Me" is a collection of photographs, writings and hymns created in Great Britain, and it is GORGEOUS!

Covering familiar hymns such as "Amazing Grace" and "Take My Life and Let It Be" to the less familiar hymns such as "Caedmon's Hymn" and "The Spacious Firmament on High", each section is rich with history, detail and photographic excellence.

I personally grew up singing the hymns, and I'm thrilled that our church blends the old and the new. And reading about where these beloved songs were written and the circumstances surrounding their creation makes them all the more precious.

This is the ideal gift for the person in your life who loves hymns and is fascinated by the history behind them. I'd love to have this book just for the photography alone! Oh, how I'd love to be able to travel God's world!

I'm giving "Abide With Me" the Golden Bookmark for Photographic Excellence and Design, and voting it "Best Gift Book of 2009".

Happy Reading!
