Faking Grace by Tamara Leigh

Photobucket

My daughter and I have totally and completely fallen in love with Tamara Leigh's flawed heroines! We argue constantly over who is our favorite, and now we have another contender for the coveted "favorite flawed female" in our hearts!

"Faking Grace" is all Maizy Grace Stewart hears these days. Strapped for cash and trying to redeem a failed journalism career, Grace applies for a part time position as an editor's assistant at Steeple Side Christian Resources.

Problem is, Grace's Christianity sticks in her life about as well as her "Jesus is my co-pilot bumper sticker--not well! With her "Dumb Blonde's Guide to Christianity" at her side, she attempts to fake her way into the position, and somehow succeeds.

As she builds friendships with her 'co-laborers in Christ', another problem arises. Her other part time position? The one with the Middle Tennessee Review, her OTHER job? Well, they want her to write an expose that uncovers hypocrisy at Steeple Side.

Can she do it? Can Grace fake her way into the secret lives of these Christians, exposing their darker sides for all of Tennessee to read? And what will Grace learn about genuine faith in Christ along the way?

I don't know if she meant to do this (but knowing Tamara and how sharp she is, I'm thinking the answer is "YES"!), but Tamara shines a bright spotlight on grace, forgiveness and mercy in this brilliant novel.

No one is perfect except for Jesus Christ, and we as Christians above all ought to know this and live like we know it. What Grace encounters at Steeple Side not only taught her that we're flawed humans forgiven by a perfect God...it taught me as well.

So, does Grace write the expose? Does she get exposed for faking grace? Is there a guy in her future? You'll have to read it to find out! Meanwhile, I'm going to Google search to see if there really is a "Dumb Blonde's Guide to Christianity"!

I'm giving "Faking Grace" five out of five bookmarks, with a copy of The Message as a charm...replacing her fake guide to faith with the real deal!

Happy Reading!

Deena

P.S. While I adored Maizy Grace (especially her name!), Kate is still my favorite flawed female:-)
