Lord, Change Me: Eat This, Not That by David Zinczenko (AND A GIVEAWAY!!!)

Photobucket

First off, I must tell you this is a non-Christian title. But when I stumbled across it, I just had to pick up a copy! Not only is it fascinating, but it is informative and encouraging as well.

I've battled with my weight since the age of three. In fact, someone somewhere left me a nasty comment once about my being overweight and claiming to be a Christian (now, THAT is messed up!).

Praise God, I've lost 35 pounds, and while I still have a few more to go, I feel so much lighter and like I fit in my own skin! And I did this without mean spirited people pushing me...just loving support:-)

Part of losing weight is making better choices, and that is what "Eat This, Not That" is all about. David gives us side by side comparisons of some of our favorite fast foods and it is startling sometimes to see the differences!

In addition to the side by sides, he offers eight foods we need to eat and ten foods to avoid, tackles restaurants and grocery stores, and even has a section for kids and their health.

Now, I haven't poured over this entire book page by page by page, and it's published by Men's Health, so I can't vouch for every entry. But what I've seen makes this a great book to browse through and learn from.

Therefore, I'm giving "Eat This, Not That" four out of five bookmarks, with a tiny scale as a charm...but it doesn't work, because we're more than a number on the scale. I measure my success by how baggy my clothing is getting, and how tight I have to pull my belt:-)

Want to win a copy? Leave me a comment with your most tempting food that DOESN'T help your health, and I'll pick a winner on April 1st!

Happy Reading!

Deena

This sounds helpful. I'm still having trouble getting motivated enough not to make the wrong choices. I want and need to lose...but want all the wrong things, too, and that just doesn't work.

My most tempting food that doesn't help my health -- Krispy Kreme donuts, especially when the "hot and ready" sign is on. It's like a magnet. Thankfully I don't like them as well from the grocery store, and I don't pass the Krispy Kreme place often. But when I do pass by that way (it's on the way to the dr.'s office, of all things) it is awfully hard not to turn in. Especially now that they have a drive-through!

Chocolate!! That is my most tempting food. And I often have some in the house. I can usually be pretty disciplined, but lately, I'm weak. I've seen this book and briefly looked through it. I'd love to win a copy. Thanks for the chance!

Cheesecake factory cheesecake is my downfall. They serve it at our local Barnes and Noble and I just drool everytime I walk by the case!

Pizza is my biggest weakness. We eat something that is pizza related at least three times a week at my house. I would love to win a copy.

Hi, I am with you! Most of the time, I don't use a scale. It is how my clothes fit and feel. If the inches are going, I think people notice that more! Please enter my husband and me in your drawing. We could both benefit from reading it.....Thanks,

Sounds like a book I need!

There are so many tempting foods that I love. I'm going to have to go with donuts. I love to top off my grocery shopping trip with a donut and coffee (with cream and sugar of course). It doesn't do much for my waistline.

Ahh my downfall is peanut butter M & Ms.
I could use this title. I have lost 30 lbs but am feeling like I am losing my motivation.

Sorry someone was rude to you. Keep up the good work!

The downfall I have is food in general. It seems to call my name and especially when I finish the first plate full. I have to fight to not go back for seconds after keeping a proper portion of whatever the food is on the first plate full.

Next to that is chocolate and milk before bedtime. I seem to sleep better if I have that while relaxing before turning in.

Please enter me in the drawing.
