The Guardians by Jack Cavanaugh

Photobucket

I rarely do this, but I read the last book in a series FIRST! How weird is that? The great thing...Jack Cavanaugh wrote "The Guardians" for people just like me...it is a stand alone, as well as a wrap up.

Ethan Morgan is a copy; Andrew Morgan is a writer/artist. Ethan and Andrew are identical twins, the second set to appear in the Morgan family tree. They may be physically identical, but spiritually the two are as different as night and day.

Andrew has taken the Morgan family history (as written in the previous volumes of the American Family Portrait series--think Gilbert Morris' Winslows--only shorter:-) and created a drama for a local school to perform.

Only problem is, Ethan doesn't want much to do with his heritage or his family's faith. So he conveniently "forgets" to bring along the Morgan family Bible, the pivotal piece in Morgan family history.

Andrew recognizes Ethan's ploy to miss the play, so he instead goes to Ethan's house to get the Bible...and that is when everything turns upside down for Ethan. Now all he has left is a widow, an empty case, and a lot of questions...

...who wanted him dead? And who wanted the family Bible? What was Andrew working on, and what does it have to do with him? Can he trust Meredith, Andrew's wife, or is she working against him as well?

And can he find the Bible, his brother's killer, and keep his badge? What about his faith, or lack of faith, in God? Will Ethan ever surrender to the Hound of Heaven?

These are questions that are answered masterfully by author Jack Cavanaugh. In fact, this story is so compelling I'm ordering the first book in his HISTORICAL series, An American Family Portrait (book is titled "The Puritans"). And for ME, that's sayin' something!

I'm giving "The Guardians" six out of five bookmarks, with a (yup, you guessed it), graphic novel as a charm. What? You didn't see that one coming? Well, I suppose it's because you haven't read the book:-)

Jack has another series out titled "Kingdom Wars" and book two is in my hot little hands...so watch for more from this amazing author!

Happy Reading!

Kim,
It's the final volume, set in modern days.

Whaaaat...?? I don't know if I could be so brave and read the last book in the series, I would feel like I was doing something wrong! LOL.
