Coldwater Revival by Nancy Jo Jenkins

What a lyric and beautiful novel! This was a wonderful discovery from a new author, and I thoroughly enjoyed my journey.

From the back cover: Just three weeks before her wedding, Emma Grace Falin has returned to her hometown of Coldwater, Texas, consumed by a single, burning desire. She must confront the guilt and shame of a devastating event that has haunted her since childhood.

I fell in love with Emma Grace and the entire Falin family by the third chapter. Nancy Jo weaves past and present into an intricate and beautiful tapestry of the Falin family history. Emma Grace is a miracle baby, which brings the tragedy that befalls the Falin family into stark contrast.

Her journey is one that is heavily marked by tears and sorrow, but is also filled with whispers of God's amazing grace. The Scripture passage of Zephaniah about how God sings over us comes to life in this novel in a powerful and moving way. I won't share more...you'll just have to read it for yourselves.

I am weary for having made the long journey with Emma Grace and her Irish clan, but richer for having traveled her road. This is a debut novel from a VERY promising author...I can't wait to see what else she has inside her pen.

Get Coldwater Revival, and let it stir a revival for the love of God in your life as it did in Emma Grace's, and in mine.

Happy Reading,

Deena
