Author of the Month--M.L. Tyndall's Favorite Scripture!

I have to admit, when it comes to my Author of the Month events, this is one of my favorite things to share. It always seems that a believer's favorite passage of Scripture reveals a lot about the person...and when it's one of our author friends, it just seems extra special.

When I asked MaryLu her favorite, this is what she had to say:

I have so many favorite scriptures. Do I have to pick one?

I love 1 Peter 5:7 “Casting all your cares upon Him because He cares for you.”

Such a simple scripture and yet it says so much. God cares for us. He really cares for us, even about all the little details of our lives. So we don’t have to worry or fear or be stressed about anything. That amazes me. If we could truly get that deep our hearts, what peace we would feel!.

I also love the entire chapter of Romans 8, but these verses in particular, really bless me. Romans 8: 31-32

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

You see for years I thought I was worthless. I grew up in a broken home without a father. Shy and awkward as a young girl, I was often ostracized and teased by other kids. I grew up thinking there was something wrong with me, and for years I tried to make up for it by putting on a façade and trying to please everyone around me. When I finally gave my life to God and read these scriptures about how much He loves me, I was blown away! And through the years, God’s love has been like a healing balm soothing over all the wounds in my heart.

I guess the ultimate theme of these verses is found in 1 John 4:18, “Perfect love casts out all fear.” When you truly believe that you are loved by the God of the universe, then what’s to fear?

I know I've asked this many times, but would you care to share with MaryLu and with me about your favorite passage? Let's encourage one another with His Word!

Happy Reading!

MaryLu and I have a lot in common. I felt the same way growin up and it wasn't until I was in my early 20's and began studying the Bible that I learned how much God really loved me.

Right now my favorite verse is:
The Lord is a stronghold in the day of trouble and He knows those who take refuge in Him. Nahum 1:7

My absolute favorite would have to be Galatians 2:20. As a matter of fact, way back when my screen name used to be StarFishG220.

"It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives through me."

This verse has been my strong point for the past several years. I had a good couple of years where I left behind everything that I knew spiritually and was quite certain that nothing mattered, because I had already screwed up too badly for any more chances. A friend of mine, got me into a conversation about why I would not forgive myself and told me that my refusal to forgive myself was saying that God's forgiveness alone was not good enough. Shortly after that I found this verse and it was so perfect to be my mantra. Perfect to show that I could get up, walk away, and try again. Because my life was no longer just about me, but Him.

The other verse that helps me be who I am is Isaiah 1:18 -

"Come now, let us reason together,"
says the LORD.
"Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.

Great verses, Ladies! I also struggle with remembering my sins are forgiven, especially when I keep messing up (Not just forgiven, but God forgets them too! Amazing) And what I love about Nahum 1:7 is the part where it says God knows us. How cool is that? That the God of the universe knows us by name. Not only that but he delights in the details of our lives. Way cool.
