The Berenstain Bears God Bless Our Country by Mike Berenstain

About the Book:

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.”
Matthew 5:14

In the newest Berenstain Bear Living Lights 8x8 title, the glorious fourth has arrived and the Bear family is busy decorating with flags and bunting. Brother, Sister and Honey are anticipating the big parade and all the fireworks but aren’t really thinking about the true meaning of the day.

But Mama and Papa make sure the cubs know just how much Bear Country is blessed with a quick lesson about the first Fourth of July.

Features 12 full-color stickers.

My Thoughts:

Excuse me while I get a bit political.

With photos and postings popping up everywhere encouraging people to walk on, spit on, step on and damage our nation's flag, the timing of this book for children couldn't be more perfect.

Now, on to my review!

I've never read a Berenstain Bears book that wasn't top quality in illustration and in story content.  Mike and Jan have created an iconic family of bears who live to teach us and our littles the best way to live life.

In "God Bless Our Country", Brother, Sister, and Honey Bear are all excited about the 4th of July Parade, but they aren't quite clear on the meaning behind the event.  Mama and Papa then proceed to tell them the story of the birth of the United States of America, and what July 4th means to us.

As an added treat, Zondervan Publishing (thanks for my complimentary copy) included a sheet of colorful stickers with the book.  And, as always, some great conversation starter questions wrap up at the end of the book.

This is a must have for fans of The Berenstain Bears, and a much needed book for America's children.  I received a copy of "God Bless Our Country" in exchange for an honest review, and I highly recommend this book.

Happy Reading!
