Penny Wise by Neta Jackson and Dave Jackson

About the Book:

PENNY WISE (Book 3 in the Windy City Neighbors series) introduces us to yet another family in "the neighborhood"-the Jaspers, busy with demanding jobs, busy with church, busy volunteering, parents of three active teenagers, juggling sometimes crazy schedules. All good things. Until all those "good things" feed into a series of crises that affects the whole family. Something's gotta change!

PENNY WISE is a contemporary peek at an urban family wrestling with the spiritual and practical challenges of real life. The series employs the innovating storytelling technique of "parallel novels," each with its own drama and story arc, but whose characters' lives become intertwined with their neighbors and affect one another. Welcome to Beecham Street-a typical, isolated American neighborhood that is beginning to come out of its shell . . . for better or worse.

My Thoughts:

Oh, it's good to be back on Beecham Street!  I absolutely love the "Windy City Series", and it's always fun to visit with old fictional friends from time to time.  In "Penny Wise" we don't see much of Harry Bentley, but Estelle is up to her praying ways, and she's involved a new neighbor in her weekly prayer time with Grace (we met her in "Grounded").

I love the regular, everyday feel of these books.  Just like in her "Yada Yada Prayer Group" series, Neta has created rich characters that come alive on the pages and live in your memory long after the book is finished.

Dave and Neta are also two of the few authors who write parallel fiction...stories that take place at the same time, but with a different focus.  The events of "Grounded" were told from Mr. Bentley's point of view in "Derailed".  I have a feeling this dynamic writing duo is planning something similar with "Penny Wise"...and I can't wait!

I purchased a copy of "Penny Wise" in the e-book version for my Kindle Fire, but I'm sure you can find your copy on any of your favorite bookseller websites, or go to Neta and Dave's website.  "Penny Wise" is another winner in a long list of well loved novels, and I'm already eager for more!

Happy Reading!
