The Road To Testament by Eva Marie Everson

About the Book:

Ashlynne Rothschild grew up with the proverbial silver spoon in her mouth. Smart and sassy, Ashlynne expects to inherit the Park Avenues magazine empire. But her family has other ideas. Feeling she needs to understand the world beyond, they ship her off to Testament, North Carolina, for a little “learning about life."

William Decker grew up in a small town with dreams of big-city success. But when the spoiled Ashlynne falls under his authority, her big city ways aren’t so appealing. Ashlynne’s attempt at “learn normal” ends with a wounded spirit, while William's “reach for the stars” attitude ends with a wounded heart.

When these two journalists go head to head, the race is on to see if either will succeed in getting what they really want.

My Thoughts:

The Queen of Southern Literature has another winner!  I knew I was going to enjoy traveling "The Road to Testament", but I had no clue just how much I would enjoy the journey.

From the moment I met Ashlynne I felt a kindred spirit in her.  School wasn't the most pleasant experience for me, and when Eva  shared peer rejection through Ashlynne it brought me to tears.  I wanted her to succeed, and to fit in with the folks in Testament.

From the moment I met Will Decker, I wanted to shake him until his teeth rattled.  I know, I know...hurting people hurt other people and all that but REALLY?  What a bully he started out as, and he just irritated the butter off my biscuit with his harshness from first sight.

Thankfully, the story transitioned and we saw more of Will's background, as well as Ashlynne's.  Through in the mystery of the gravestones, the secret of the town hero, and you've got some great summer reading!

My thanks to my friends at Abingdon Press for my advance copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.  When I refer to Eva as the Queen of Southern Literature, I am not exaggerating.  This lovely lady can write powerful, engaging novels, and "The Road To Testament" is one more I adore.

Happy Reading!
