Damascus Countdown by Joel C. Rosenberg

About the Book:

What if Israel launched a massive preemptive military strike against Iran?

New York Times bestselling author Joel C. Rosenberg returns with another adrenaline-charged political thriller—a gripping tale snatched from future headlines.

Israel’s preemptive strike seems to go well at first, until CIA operative David Shirazi learns there are more Iranian nuclear warheads still left unaccounted for. Now Shirazi and his team must race against the clock to hunt down the warheads and keep them from being launched at Israel.

Can Shirazi find the warheads in time? Can he protect the U.S. and Israel from a nuclear holocaust? And what if events are set into motion that could spin gravely out of control and change the history of the Middle East and the world forever?

My Thoughts:

It's so chilling to read Joel's fiction, and then to watch the daily news shows.  I see so many parallels and so many possibilities, and thanks to his vivid writing, I can see events unfold in my imagination.

We have a lot to watch out for.

Israel could at any time launch a preemptive strike against Iran.  You'll understand why once you've read the book.

Iran could quite possibly have nuclear warheads hidden within the country, able to be moved across the border at a moment's notice.  You'll understand why once you've read the book.

We most likely have CIA operatives taking part in covert missions even as I write this review.  We can only hope they are as skilled and as brave as David Shirazi.  You'll understand why once you've read this book.

Most likely, America will be watching one country like a hawk and the trouble will come at us from another nation.  You'll understand how that can happen once you've read the book.

Joel doesn't call himself a prophet, but he has an uncanny ability to view the events of today and forecast where they may be leading, and he's been accurate more times than not.  Read the novel, then watch the news, and see just how likely a "Damascus Countdown" might be.

I purchased a copy of "Damascus Countdown", the final book of a trilogy that left me speechless and viewing world events with fresh eyes.  I challenge you to read Joel's novels, beginning with "The Tehran Initiative".

"Damascus Countdown" is highly recommended.

Happy Reading!
