Taylor's Gift by Todd and Tara Storch

About the Book:

In March 2010, thirteen-year-old Taylor Storch's life was tragically cut short by a skiing accident. With only a few minutes to consider their options, her grieving family made the life-changing decision to donate her organs. Knowing Taylor's caring spirit, they were sure this was what she would have wanted.

Over the course of the next two years, Tara and Todd Storch connected with four of the five people who now live because of Taylor's gift. And through these encounters, the Storches have discovered unexpected blessings that are changing countless lives.

Now Tara and Todd share their inspiring story, shining a light at the end of the tunnel for those enduring the suffering of losing a loved one. Through the stories of the donor recipients, readers will discover hope in the midst of pain.

Honest with their struggles, the Storches show readers that life is a gift and our response to grief is a choice. They also speak with a clear voice about the importance and the blessing of being an organ donor, telling the inspiring story of the creation of Taylor's Gift Foundation and its goals to raise awareness of the need for organ donation, to re-gift life, renew health, and restore families. They are changing the conversation around the globe that organ donation is not about death--it's about life! Foreword by Max Lucado.

My Thoughts:

Wow...this is not an easy book to read.  The emotions are real and raw--Todd and Tara hold nothing back.  Which also makes this a gorgeous book to read.  Of course, I chose to read "Taylor's Gift" on the day my youngest son left on a 7 day road trip for the first time with three of his buddies.  Not a great idea, but I did finish it in a day and half.

Taylor is an amazing young woman: I say is because Taylor lives more now than she ever did in her brief years on planet Earth.  And she lives on because her parents chose organ donation.  Because of the Storch family, five others are living full and rich lives today.

And you get to meet four out of the five organ recipients during the course of the book.  Their stories are woven into the fabric of Taylor's story so seamlessly, which makes perfect sense since God crafted this story from the beginning of days.

He has a unique way of making tragedy make sense over time.  While I would never wish this kind of loss on any family, I would wish this kind of journey on a family who has experienced great loss.  It's a journey of faith, family, friendship and finally hope that transcends sight.

Don't miss this opportunity to get to know Todd, Tara, Taylor, Ryan and Peyton Storch.  I received a copy of "Taylor's Gift" from Revell Publishing in exchange for an honest review.  The book isn't easy to read because of the powerful emotion, but it is easy to read because of  the way it is written.

Honestly?  This could be the most important book you'll ever read.  It was for me.  I am now a registered participant in the DonateLife organ donor program of California.  All because of "Taylor's Gift."

Happy Reading!
