You Don't Know Me by Susan May Warren

About the Book:

To everyone who knows her, Annalise Decker is a model wife and mother. She’s a permanent member of the PTA, never misses her kids’ sporting events, and is constantly campaigning for her husband’s mayoral race.

No one knows that Annalise was once Deidre O’Reilly, a troubled young woman whose testimony put a dangerous criminal behind bars. Relocated through the Witness Security Program to the sleepy town of Deep Haven, Deidre got a new identity and a fresh start, which began when she fell in love with local real estate agent Nathan Decker.

Twenty years later, Annalise couldn’t be more unprepared for her past to catch up with her. When Agent Frank Harrison arrives with news that the man she testified against is out on bail and out for revenge, Annalise is forced to face the consequences of her secrets.

Will she run again, or will she finally find the grace to trust those she loves most with both her past and her future?

My Thoughts:

My husband always knows when I've had my nose buried in a novel by Susan May Warren.  I come out of our bedroom with a glazed look in my eyes, asking strange questions like, "What would you do if I told you twenty-nine years ago I was relocated in the Witness Protection Program?"

His response: "You've been reading a novel, haven't you?"  Of course I have...well, more inhaling a novel, actually.  Susan May Warren is one of my all time favorite authors, and I can't help but walk in the shoes of her heroines.

I adored Annalise...or Deidre...whomever she is today.  I mean, she's an ideal friend, a woman who just wants to get it right in life.  We could have coffee together...we'd just both be looking over her shoulder all the time.

And Nathan is like most husbands...sincere, wanting to give the best to his family, and a bit clueless on who his wife really is.  In his case, literally.  But you have to love him and give him an 'A' for effort...especially once the truth comes out.

This is what I love about Susan's novels.  Real people in unique situations, reacting most likely like you and I would react.  Not that we know many people in the Witness Security Program...or do we??

"You Don't Know Me" clips along at an even pace, with the story building each chapter until the final conclusion.  And be warned: have tissues handy!  I honestly cannot fathom why Susan's books haven't been made into movies!  I mean, c'mon, producers...get with the program!

I received a copy of "You Don't Know Me" from Tyndale Publishing  in exchange for an honest review.  You honestly cannot find a better novelist than Susan May Warren...I know quality when I read it.

"You Don't Know Me" is highly recommended.

(NOTE: I have another new novel by Susan up on deck to review...so keep tuned to my blog!)

Happy Reading!
