Unconditional by Eva Marie Everson

From the Back of the Book:

Samantha Crawford, an acclaimed storybook artist, seemingly had it all until losing the love she cherished most. Now fighting despair, she is obsessed with tracking down the murderer of her husband. With no leads and no hope, Sam prepares to take her life until providence intervenes and she is reunited with her childhood friend, Joe Bradford.
Dying of kidney disease, Joe spends his last days serving fatherless children in an under resourced community. Observing Papa Joe’s tireless love for “his kids,” Sam begins to find new purpose until she comes face to face with her heart’s desire. The innocence and hope of a child competes with the lure of revenge in an effort to show Sam how, even in life’s darkest of circumstances, Love is above all.

My Thoughts:

Eva Marie Everson was BORN to write this novel!  She is a premier storyteller, especially gifted in Southern-style literature, and I adore her books.  However, this one tops them all by far.  The plot development, characterization, and powerful theme of love and faith are rich, like the most divine chocolate treat.

Samantha is so easy to relate to, and you can't help but fall in love with Joe.  Her heartache will tear at you and lead you to a deeper appreciation of God's blessings in your life, and Joe's efforts will spur you on to do things in honor of God's love in your life.

And the kids...oh, those precious children!  The visit to Sam's farm was by far my favorite part of the whole book...unless you count her stories that she shared (still hoping one day to see some of those works of fiction in print--I'd buy them and share them!)...and when she comes face to face...

...oh, wait!  You need to read that part for yourself!

I truly adored this story; it's one of the few I finished and immediately wanted to read again.  I'm slightly jealous of you if you haven't read the book yet...what a treat for you!  Seriously, do NOT miss "Unconditional"...and now I'm on the hunt for the motion picture.  Although...

...after reading Eva's book, I feel as if I've actually 'seen' the story on the big screen of my mind...so I'm a bit afraid the movie won't measure up!  I received an advance reading copy via NetGalley from B&H Fiction in exchange for my honest review.

"Unconditional" is getting a Golden Bookmark from me for Writing Excellence...so very highly recommended!

Happy Reading!
