MOMumental by Jennifer Grant

From the Back Cover:

Celebrating the joyous art of being a mother, MOMumental offers an inspiring, honest, and infectiously humorous look at the perils and pleasures of raising a family in the real world.

Once a devout believer in the myth of the perfect mother, author Jennifer Grant now has a more realistic yet still upbeat view of parenting and families. Instead of focusing on creating a conflict-free home, raising picture-perfect kids, and being an ideal mother, Grant offers a wiser and more down-to-earth way to love your children that makes room for mistakes and imperfections. She says, "I share stories about family life and how I've come to appreciate the mess of it. I am grateful for my own happy, idiosyncratic, and imperfect family."

MOMumental is one mother's account of the unpredictable, creative, sometimes hilarious, and always rewarding process of raising a family. It's filled with funny and poignant stories from her everyday life--a life that mothers everywhere can identify with.

My Thoughts:

Nope.  I no longer have small children at home.  All my babies are adults now...but oh, how I remember some wild times!!  That's why I loved Jennifer Grant's new book, "MOMumental".  She doesn't sugar coat it, ladies...she tells it like it REALLY is!

Like the time her two oldest got into a fight about body hair.  Yes, you read that correctly...BODY HAIR!  Made me remember all of the ridiculous arguments my kids got into...and the sinful need to always be right, no matter what.

Or the story she shared about the son who looked at other people's mishaps and tragedies and responded "On the BWIGHT side, (that) didn't happen to me" and how she worried he'd never learn empathy.  But how are kids are when they are little isn't always how they are going to turn out...that's why it's is called training and learning.

Jennifer shares story after story, and some will even have you tearing up.  This is one of the best 'mommy' books I've read in a long, long time, and one I will definitely read again.

I received an advanced copy of "MOMumental" via NetGalley from Worthy Publishing in exchange for an honest review.  "MOMumental" receives the Golden Bookmark from me (and it's been a while since a book was THAT good)!

Happy Reading!
