My Thoughts:
When it comes to cookbooks, I have some very strict criteria. First and foremost, the recipes must be short and sweet--none of these five step with twenty-five ingredients, and three that you have to hunt for in obscure shops! Nope, if it isn't easy and accesible, forget it.
Great news! These are easy-to-follow with easy-to-find ingredients! I loved the "Chicago Style Beef Sandwiches", and my grandson is crazy about the "Tender Baked Meatballs". The book includes recipes for appetizers, breakfasts, soups, salads, desserts and main dishes divided into categories like crockpot meals and baked dishes.
My second requirement is INDEXED. And yes, "Don't Panic" is indexed, making the search for the perfect recipe quick and easy. You'll also find a metric conversion table and a handy chart of measurements, weights, equivalents and servings. For instance, did you know that one chicken breast will give you 1 1/2 cups when cooked and diced?
The third requirement is photos, which you won't find in this cookbook. The good news is that the recipes are so easy and ingredients so familiar, you won't miss out on seeing the finished dish in the book. Still a few would have been a nice addition!
All in all, I enjoyed browsing for new ideas in my "Don't Panic: Quick, Easy and Delicious Meals for Your Family". I received my copy from Revell Publishing in exchange for my honest review. I highly recommend this book, and suggest you check out "Don't Panic: Dinner's In The Freezer", books one and two. I'm off to try "Slow Cooker Pork Chops."
Happy Reading!
