Waterfall by Lisa T. Bergren

I feel as though I've been away for a long, long time. In reality, I've been lost in another world for the past 36 hours, devour a story that will be read again and again. I can't remember the last time I've been this excited about a new series...and a series for TEENS, no less!

Welcome to "The River of Time" trilogy by Lisa T. Bergren. Her first novel, "Waterfall" is a thrilling adventure through time for two sisters, Gabi and Lia. And it's an adventure you will not want to miss.

With their father deceased and their mother seeking out Etruscan treasures in Italy, teen aged sisters Gabriella (Gabi) and Evangelia (Lia) are along for the dusty, boring ride. Watching their archaeologist mom dig in the dirt for ruins is not their idea of a good time!

So, when Gabi decides to explore Mom's latest dig, Lia reluctantly goes along. Two girls in a tomb doesn't sound much more exciting to her...until Gabi makes a discovery of her own.

A mysterious handprint is on the wall of the tomb...and it's warm to Gabi's touch. Turns out it's a portal into medieval Italy...and suddenly Gabi is thrust into a world she'd only studied (and never really paid close attention to those studies!).

Now it's a matter of survival...with jousting, swordplay and life-or-death battles becoming the norm. Plus, what's a seventeen-year-old to do when she finally finds her knight in shining armor...

...and he really IS a knight in shining armor?!

This is a keeper...destined to remain on your bookshelf until it falls apart from beloved reading and re-reading. With the same romance that has made many swoon in the "Twilight" series, and the rousing adventure captured in "The Hunger Games", "Waterfall" will capture you and take you far away, and never let you go.

But Lisa's novel has an element of faith in God that is missing in those other wildly popular series, which makes this genuine food for the imagination. Rich with history and packed with twists, you'll crave more of Gabi and Lia as you wrap up this first novel.

I fell in love with Marcello, Fortino, and Luca...what wonderful and mighty men they are! And Gabi is such a sweetheart---but do NOT mess with the girl! And Cook and Giacinta...oh, I just love them ALL!

Well, except for maybe a few characters...but you'll have to meet them for yourself!

I'm so eager for the second novel, "Cascade", I'd travel anywhere to get a copy...but, alas, it has yet to release. And I'm almost envious of you, my reading friend, for your journey has just begun.

That's why "Waterfall" is receiving my Golden Bookmark for Writing Excellence, with a bonus Golden Bookmark for Packaging and Marketing (David C. Cook and representing agencies are doing a stellar job with this series!)...PLUS...

I'm voting it "Best Young Adult Fantasy Series of 2011" (in this author's humble opinion, it could easily be best of the decade, but I won't go there). "Waterfall" is the first of a trilogy, published by David C. Cook, and is available everywhere.

Be watching for "Cascade" to release June 1, 2011, with the final novel, "Torrent", tentatively scheduled for 2012 (and yes, I'm distraught that I shall have to wait that long for the conclusion!).

Happy Reading!
