It's Day Two of our Author Spotlight with Allia Zobel Nolan! Here's a little fun thing I like to do to help you get to know the writers behind the books you love...
1. Allia is also a citizen of another country......Ireland.
2. One of Allia's favorite illustrators is Miki Sakamoto. Ms. Sakamoto has illustrated Allia's two new books from Zondervan which will be coming out in 2011 and 2012.
3. Allia loves to sing in the church choir.Her favorite hymn is "How Can I Keep from Singing."
4. Some of Allia's favorite authors are C. S. Lewis, Edna O'Brien, Philip Yancy and Joyce Carol Oates. Some of her favorite books are The Jesus I Never Knew, Snow Flower the Secret Fan, The Alchemist, and The Language of Letting Go.
5. When Allia was little, she wanted to be an artist.The only problem is (was) she can't draw.
6. Allia has three cats,MacDuff (who is 23 pounds, and Angela and Sinead, who are normal sized). They sit in her office and help her write.
7. Allia has written over 170 books.
8. Allia wants to write a novel someday.
9. Allia's first book was published by Workman Publishing. It was called The Joy of Being Single and was illustrated by New Yorker cartoonist, Roz Chast.
It will celebrate its 20th year in print in 2012. It sold close to 200,000 copies and was translated into four different languages. Right after she wrote it, she met her husband-to-be, Desmond Finbarr Nolan. A year and a half later they were married and her wedding was covered in the VOWS section of the The New York Times...

10. One of Allia's favorite movies is Disney's UP!
