My Review:

Nancy tackles some tough topics in this new series. In "Boyfriends, Burritos and an Ocean of Trouble", we get an inside look at abuse by boyfriend...and it's an ugly, horrific sight.

Bryn O'Connor has held her secret for a long time, fearing no one would believe her or worse...that she actually deserved what she got. But a car accident reveals the truth, and now she's free...

...right?

Until the phone calls, the taunting, and the drama escalates. Enter the mysterious Real Life book, and Bryn's grandmother! Together the two work to help Bryn find her ground and stand firm on what's right, no matter the cost.

This time it may cost Bryn dearly...but thanks to Nancy telling this story, thousands of teen girls (and women as well) can begin to speak out and regain their ability to recognize abuse when it happens.

Be warned: these books are not easy to read. Especially if you have witnessed abuse or been a victim of it. And I highly recommend moms and daughters read these together. You'll find lots to talk about, and you'll both enjoy the stories.

I'm giving "B, B & an Ocean of Trouble" five out of five bookmarks with a surfboard as a charm. I'm also voting this "Best Teen/YA Series of 2010"....it's that good, and it's that important!

My thanks to my friend Pam at Zondervan for my copy. You can purchase yours now, and be watching for more in the "Real Life" series soon!

Happy Reading!

Thank you SO much, Deena. I appreciate this review more than you know. I really DO want the issue of abuse to be right out there for girls to know about -- even, and perhaps especially, Christian girls. Thanks again. Nancy Rue

Nancy Rue's books are outstanding. Your comment that moms and daughters should read this one together was powerful. I think it would make an excellent teen book study, too.

Your book reviews are thorough and informative. You do an excellent job of getting to the meat of the story without giving away any spoilers.
