Disaster Status by Candace Calvert

Candace Calvert held me captive with her debut novel in the 'Mercy Hospital' series, "Critical Care". Her faith filled story about life in the ER was well crafted and fast paced, holding my attention from the first page until the end.

Her second novel, "Disaster Status" isn't quite the page-turner as her first story, but I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the story. Continuing character Erin Quinn has moved on with her life, starting again in a new town and at a new hospital.

Unfortunately, forgetting her name badge on the day a disaster status is declared doesn't score her any points with Fire Captain Scott McKenna. His 'by the book' take on life is causing her grief...and sparking her interest.

Contaminated water is causing a panic in the community surrounding Pacific Mercy Hospital...and the media isn't helping. Neither are the protestors. It's up to Erin and Scott to contain this mess, and somehow to make sense of their own personal lives as well.

Add to the mix a rogue hospital employee, scared staff members, and a parent who treats relationships like a revolving door and you've got the gist of "Disaster Status". A title that fits on multiple levels!

Candace weaves her expert knowledge of medicine with her expertise at word-crafting to create compelling, faith-based stories that will capture the hearts of ER and Grey's Anatomy fans alike.

She's a 'must-read' novelist that has found a place on my 'keeper' shelf, and I highly recommend her to you. I'm giving "Disaster Status" four out of five bookmarks, with a bottle of water as a charm.

"Disaster Status" releases from Tyndale in April 2010, and my thanks to my friends at Tyndale for my advance copy!

Happy Reading!
