A Christmas Carol: Special Edition by Stephen Skelton

Since its publication in 1843, Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" has been a staple during the Christmas season. I haven't seen the newest Hollywood rendition of this classic tale, but I have taken a peek at a new edition of the printed story...

...and it's GORGEOUS!! Stephen Skelton has done a masterful job of updating and expanding the classic story without taking away from the original. Standard Publishing (thanks to them for my copy!) has packaged the book in exquisite fashion, making it perfect for gift giving.

Each chapter, or stave, is complete in the telling, as well as adding notes to help the reader understand the classic text. Also included are some quotes from Charles Dickens on his motivation for writing this story.

At the end of the stave, Stephen has written some insightful discussion questions, including Scripture with the questions to prompt some deep thought. Some of the questions are about the story; some are of a more personal nature.

I love, love, LOVE this book! Perfect for the Dickens fan, for homeschool families, or for those who are looking for a new way to bring deep meaning to the Christmas season...this book appeals to a wide audience.

From design to content, I found "A Christmas Carol: Special Edition" to be a charming and beautiful addition to my Christmas library. That's why I'm awarding it the Golden Bookmark for Publishing and Design Excellence, with a Golden lamp as a charm.

Happy Reading!
