All-Time Favorite: The Inspirational Christmas Almanac

Photobucket

On this Christmas Day, my all time favorite Christmas book (next to the Bible--that always tops my list, no matter the subject or topic!)....

I love Christmas time for a variety of reasons; the lights, the smells, the fact that I can speak openly about my Jesus and people just have to deal with it! So much of the holiday season brings such great joy that lingers long after the last cookie is eaten and the tree is taken down.

One way I sustain that joy is by keeping a wide variety of Christmas novels and novellas on my bookshelf. But my collection of non-fiction Christmas books is growing as well, and my favorite book by far is "The Inspirational Christmas Almanac" published last year by Honor Books.

This is the Christmas season lover's dream book! Stuffed with more stories, Scriptures, carols, trivia and recipes than the Thanksgiving turkey, "The Inspirational Christmas Almanac" is a never ending source of Christmas enjoyment.

Inside you'll find fun facts and trivia, such as "Top Ten Things Moms Don't Want to Hear Their Kids Say At Christmas", and the reason robins appear on so many Christmas cards.

You'll also find inspirational quotes, "factoids" like the origin of the song "Jingle Bells", and Christmas traditions from around the world. This book contains craft ideas and holiday recipes, such as Bavarian Egg Nog and Snowmen Luminaries.

Lots of Christmas stories, poems and inspirational writings also fill this jam-packed almanac. Included are stories such as “The Burglar’s Christmas” by Willa Cather and “The Elves and the Shoemaker” by The Brothers Grimm.

They've even included pages for you to record YOUR favorite Christmas memories and traditions. You can add your personal touch to this collection that will last for Christmas seasons yet to come.

But the best feature and the reason I love this little book SO much is this...

It's INDEXED! That's right...you can look up all of the trivia, or factoids, or recipes...just by turning to the back of the book. The publisher that put this book together knew just what to do to make it the must have book for those who truly love the Christmas season.

I’ve used the trivia to teach my children about Christmas traditions, the factoids to stump my son, and the Top Ten lists to amuse myself! With all the little goodies in this book, you can find lots of ways to share the wealth of Christmas with others.
And last but not least, the final story in this wonderful book is “The True Story of Christmas”, beautifully written and with Biblical references to share with others, or as a family.

I give "The Inspirational Christmas Almanac" six out of five bookmarks, with a little red crab pot for a charm, surrounded by a Christmas wreath.

Want to know why? Pick up a copy and check out page 157!!

Happy Reading!
