Taking Tuscany by Renee Riva

Are you looking for a new author to love? Look no further! Renee Riva made a huge mark with her debut novel, "Saving Sailor", and now she and A.J. are back, and they are "Taking Tuscany" by storm!

Leaving her beloved dog Sailor in the care of her best friend, Danny, A.J. and the rest of the Degulio family travel to Italy for a family vacation...and end up deciding to stay.

Much to A.J.'s dismay, her parents decide to renovate an old, crumbling castle into a stylish old country inn...which puts A.J. in an awkward state. Turning fourteen in the land of the dark and beautiful is pure torture for the blonde and slightly off-beat teen.

Only her love of animals--specifically a horse and a new dog--keep her sane. That, and her writing. And the nuns, with their secret habit (pun intended--blame it on A.J.). And her letters home to Idaho.

Oh, and the hope that her family will soon come to their senses and take her home to her island, her friends, and her dog, Sailor. Until then, A.J., Nonna and her lookalike mother Sophia will either take or torment the good people of Tuscany.

Thank goodness Daddy has a sense of humor! I'm giving "Taking Tuscany" five out of five bookmarks, with chewing gum and a bottle of olive oil as charms. Be watching for "Heading Home", due out next year from our friends at David C. Cook (thanks to Audra at B&B Media for my copy of Renee's second novel).

Happy Reading

I totally agree with your comments, Deena! I read Saving Sailor last year and would have to say that it is one of the best books I've ever read. I'm waiting for the final book to come out before reading this one, though. I can't wait to see how the sweet romance between A.J. and Danny is resolved!
