I'm always curious when it comes to collaborations: who does what? How do two people write a novel together, and most importantly...will it work?
In the case of the new novel coming from Sara Evans and Rachel Hauck...yes, it works. Seamlessly and beautifully.
In "The Sweet By and By", we meet Jade Fitzgerald. On the brink of marrying the man of her dreams, Jade is hesitant to mail out the invitations, and no one can understand why.
A successful business owner, Jade's life seems to be falling into place for her. In reality, it's just beginning to fall apart. When her former hippie mother, Beryl, and her younger sister Willow come to Whisper Hollow, Tennessee for the wedding, will Jade's past come back to haunt her future?
And what is Beryl hiding? Is it another romance...which would bring her total to five now. Or is it more serious this time? Can her love for Jade now heal the wounds from their past? Or is it finally too late?
With heart and sincerity and honest writing, Sara and Rachel has crafted a wonderful novel about the complicated relationships between mothers and daughters. Together they paint a portrait of forgiveness and reconciliation that will touch the heart of every reader.
I'm excited about this writing relationship, and I hope these two write more stories together. "The Sweet By and By" gets four out of five bookmarks from me, with a jade birthstone ring as a charm.
Thanks to the people at Thomas Nelson (hi, Katie!) for my advance reader copy. Be watching for "The Sweet By and By" to release from Thomas Nelson in 2010!

I don't know if it's my emotional connection to the song in the title, or to the empty porch swing, or both - but I've wanted to read this book since I first saw it publicized. I appreciated your review, Deena.
I am SOOO looking forward to reading this one...thanks for giving us a sneak peek with your review, Deena. Makes me want it all the more.
I love Rachel's books and I cannot wait for this one!
