I must have been hiding under a rock, because I had no idea there was such a buzz about the year 2012. I'm not a big 'end of the world' prophecy nut...grew up in a church that ate, breathed and slept end-times theology, and that turned me off to most of the discussion.
HOWEVER, I DO like to know when a myth is being circulated as truth, and that's what the new book by Mark Hitchcock will help you do. With much ado about the year 2012, specifically December 21, 2012, it would be a good idea to have some working knowledge about the buzz, the hype and the truth.
Mark Hitchcock is a prominent author dealing with the topic of end-times prophecy, with over a dozen books on the subject. In "2012, The Bible and the End of the World", graciously given to me by Harvest House Publishers, he tackles the most recent prediction to pop up on radar.
The Mayan calendar ends on 12/21/2012: thus, ushering in the end of time. Much of the Mayan culture and existence still is enshrouded in mystery. A lot of speculation has gone on about the origins and knowledge of the Mayan culture.
Mr. Hitchcock discusses the possibilities that the world will end in 2012, the existence of a Bible code, and the so-called Web-Bot...that information is worth the reading! Although, it did creep me out a little bit!
In all, the book is easy to read, easy to understand, and will give you a clear explanation of the current buzz. If you are an avid student of prophecy, this is a good one to add to your collection. If you're a casual observer, invest in this short book about a much-discussed topic.
I'm giving "2012, The Bible and the End of the World" three out of five bookmarks, with a Palm Pilot as a charm...schedule in your appointments beyond the mysterious date...and trust God for the outcome! Only He knows the date and the time...
Happy Reading!
