You Make Me Feel Like Dancing by Allison Bottke

I've become a real fan of Allison Bottke's writings, both fiction and non-fiction...but I must admit, I love her fiction best. When I received this big, over 400 page novel in my mailbox, I was so excited!

It was well worth the wait!

"You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" kicks off her 'Va Va Va Boom' series...novels for the Baby Boomers, of which I am one (caught the tail end of that generation!). Her gift for creating lively characters shines in this first of at least three novels.

Susan Anderson is a product of the disco era, and she's bound and determined to never let disco die! Proud owner of the Disco Diva hair salon on the Las Vegas strip, Susan has enough original memorabilia on display to make anyone growing up in the eighties drool.

Many of her memories of her past are not pleasant ones, and she's hidden them away in her heart. Now, she uses her salon as a place of not only creating outer beauty, but helping her clients find their inner beauty in Christ.

Happily married to Michael for twenty-five years, Susan suddenly discovers Michael has a few dreams and secrets of his own, and they threaten to rock her world, and NOT in a disco way!

Fiftieth birthdays, anniversaries, and spontaneous dancing in the salon all make this novel such fun to read. Unraveling Susan's past makes it worth at least half a box of tissues...but it is oh, so worth it to watch the healing take place.

So many Biblical themes occur in the pages of this marvelous piece of fiction...submission in the true sense of the word, redemption, unconditional love, friendship that sharpens as well as encourages...I could go on and on.

Instead, I'm just going to encourage you to run out a get a copy of one of this summer's best reads! I'm giving "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" five out of five bookmarks, with a Saturday Night Fever album as a charm (yes, a RECORD album---think of it as an over-sized CD!).

Now, I've got to boogie-oogie-oogie on out of here....more books to read! I only hope we don't have to wait forever for the second novel in this fun, new series!

Happy Reading!

I've already read this book and thought it was good! :) It's none like what I have read.

I'm also impressed with Susan who believes in preserving the disco era by keeping all her memorabilia in excellent condition. I could learn a thing or two from her about keeping things in good condition!

BTW, here is my review of the book. Thanks!
