A Reconciled Heart by Jo Ann Snapp

I'm not a fan of historical fiction (you probably already know that by now!), but when I received this book from author Jo Ann Snapp, I was eager to see what she had created.

I'm delighted to let my historical reading fans know...this is great writing! Her characters are lively and true, the dialog flows like water, and the story unfolds in an even pace.

Abigail Bentley befriends a young woman as she takes a temporary position tutoring children in schooling. Victoria Rivers works alongside her husband in the clinic at the small mission, and the two quickly become friends.

But Victoria has a secret, and it has kept her from her family for many years. When Abigail has the chance to teach in Victoria's hometown, she eagerly accepts the position, hoping to do more than just instruct the students...

...she hopes to reconcile Victoria to her family and friends.

Abigail's work is definitely cut out for her. No one will speak of Victoria and her sudden disappearance. Her constant questions earn her the ire of the most powerful woman in the town, and threaten to alienate her from people she's rapidly grown to love.

What could have driven a young woman from all she knew, and cause her to hide from those who love her? Can Abigail uncover the secret that tears at the fabric of this small town? Will Victoria's heart ever be "A Reconciled Heart?"

With the gift of story in the league of Janette Oke and the hint of suspense found in Francine Rivers' novels, Jo Ann Snapp has made her mark in Christian historical fiction.

Her voice is unique and her talent for captivating the reader is true. I'd pick up a copy of any novel this lovely author writes! Finishing it in one sitting was a true miracle for me these days...but I truly couldn't put the book down.

I'm giving "A Reconciled Heart" four out of five bookmarks, with a mended heart as a charm...praying that God can mend any wounds in YOUR heart as well!
