On Tour With "Sisterchicks in Wooden Shoes" by Robin Jones Gunn!

I've adored Robin Jones Gunn since her Glenbrooke series first hit shelves, and her Sisterchick novels have cemented her on my top ten authors to read always. We're a multi-generational Robin reading family, and these are my stories.

"Sisterchicks In Wooden Shoes" finds us in the shoes of Summer Finley. Her doctor's report looms large in her life: a lump has been found. Having heard those words myself, I immediately traveled along with Summer to the Netherlands.

Noelle Van Zandt has been Summer's pen pal since fourth grade, and yet the two have never met face to face. The medical news prompts Summer to step out and fulfill a lifelong dream of meeting her kindred sister from across the waves.

But Noelle carries secret burdens of her own...burdens that will come to light as these two sisterchicks bond over the tulips, viewing the home of Corrie Ten Boom and sit in the stark cathedrals of Noelle's home.

The Sisterchick novels are more than mere stories. They are life journeys of women like many of us--in their 40's or 50's, facing empty nests, health issues, or transitions that are difficult to navigate in the best of circumstances.

They teach us how critical it is that we never walk alone--that we have a sisterchick or two holding us up in prayer and making us laugh...making us cry...making us more of who we are.

It doesn't hurt that Robin's Sisterchick novels are travelogues for those of us without frequent flier miles, either! Always rich with detail, reading a Sisterchick novel should get me a stamp in my passport! I am excited about our next Sisterchick adventure!

In the meantime, I'm giving "Sisterchicks In Wooden Shoes" five out of five bookmarks with a bouquet of tulips as a charm. If you haven't taken the time to try one of Robin's novels, you're missing out on a treat!

Happy Reading!
