Jane Austen Ruined My Life by Beth Pattilo

Fans of Jane Austen will love this fanciful look at the beloved British author's life. Filled with factual information, "Jane Austen Ruined My Life" explores the possibility of love for the queen of British romance.

Beth Patillo has created a fast paced novel with "Jane Austen Ruined My Life". I was able to devour it in one sitting...I actually had to, since I just couldn't put it down.

Emma Grant lived her life well and according to the way she was raised. Taught to honor God and family by her minister father and loving mother, her life should have turned out well.

But instead she finds herself divorced, betrayed by a cheating spouse and his teaching assistant. Not only that, but her career as a respected professor is over thanks to their lies.

Now her dreams of a happily ever after and a family are over, and it's all Jane Austen's fault. Emma's plan to get even? Travel to England and uncover the lost letters written by Jane to her sister, exposing Jane Austen's secrets to the world and re-making a name for herself.

But Emma's meeting with the evasive Mrs. Parrott goes awry, as does her arrival at her cousin's apartment. Emma's old beau, Adam, is staying there as well. Did her cousin have a slip of the memory, or was this a set up?

Emma is on a journey of self-discovery as she searches for the truth concerning Jane Austen and her romantic life. Rich with history and factual information about the famous author, Beth's novel is a tapestry of truth and fiction.

And the ending...well, you'll have to read it for yourself. Unlike Emma, I'm not out to spill any secrets! I guarantee you'll enjoy "Jane Austen Ruined My Life"...this is a great spring read...

I'm giving "Jane Austen Ruined My Life" four out of five bookmarks, with a sealed envelope as a charm. Beth Patillo is a fun author, and I encourage you to pick up a copy of her latest novel, whether you're a fan of Jane or not!

Happy Reading!

I have never read a Jane Austen novel (although I loved Debra White Smith's contemporary take on them), but between the cover and the description of this book I just had to pick up a copy.

Thanks for the review, Deena. :)
