Katt's In the Cradle by Ginger Kolbaba & Christy Scannell

If I told you what my month of March has been like, you wouldn't believe me. The things I've seen, the calls I've taken, the families I've been counseling with beside my husband, the seeming abuse I've fielded, and the anguish I've felt as I've sat helpless but for prayer...

Here I am, at almost midnight, so tired my head is buzzing. Can't sleep, so I'm up munching on a snack and reading a book that has me feeling as if I'm surrounded by women who get me.

And yet, it's a work of fiction! But, oh, so powerful fiction!!

"Katt's In the Cradle" is the third (and appears final) installment in the "Secrets From Lulu's Cafe" series by Ginger Kolbaba and Christy Scannell. After the last several weeks, I needed this book desperately!

I began this series long ago with "Desperate Pastor's Wives", and I must admit I was a tad bit disappointed. But after my husband pastored a couple of years, my attitude changed and I fell in love with "A Matter of Wife and Death".

Now, as I crawl deeper into the skin of these four PW's: Mimi, Lisa, Felicia, and Jennifer, I no longer feel alone. Each of these women represent a piece of what I feel as as pastor's wife.

I mean, no, I've never dealt with infertility--but I've dealt with children who go their own way. And no, I've never been followed by a dark sedan--but I've been abandoned by my birth father.

I didn't have an oopsey-baby...well, yeah, I did. And yes, I've been victim of mean-spirited believers who've had it out for our family. And felt helpless to stop the gossip and wondered why God didn't step in and stop it all.

Then caught a glimpse of Him at work and decided to let the I Am do as He pleased with my life. As I read about each of their lives and respective battles, I find myself in each woman's shoes.

I wouldn't trade my life as a pastor's wife for anything. But I would love ONE DAY with no crisis, no gossip, no mean phone calls, no emergencies, no prayer needs, no meetings...

...and then again, isn't that what it's all about? If you've ever wondered what being a wife of a pastor might be like, pick up this series, "Secrets From Lulu's Cafe".

If you're a pastor's wife and you feel all alone, meet up with Mimi, Lisa, Jennifer and Felicia at Lulu's Cafe and watch God work. I guarantee, you won't take your pastor's wife for granted--and you won't take BEING a pastor's wife for granted either.

So, I'm giving "Katt's In the Cradle" five out of five bookmarks, with a waitress' name tag as a charm--let's call her Gracie, shall we? I'm praying we haven't seen the last of the four PW's...I need a dose of them in my life now and again.

Happy Reading!

That sounds like a really good book. I will have to wait and see if the library system gets it.
