Nothing thrills me more on my blog than introducing a debut author to all of you, with a stellar first novel. Michael Todd Barrett is an author to watch, in the league of Tim Downs, Robert Liparulo and Ted Dekker, but with the spiritual tone of Mike Dellosso.
Spanning multiple generations, "The Curse" tells the tale of the Jakes family. Pioneers in 1850, Katie is young, innocent and hating the wagon train west. When her parents finally find the land they've been searching for, she's hopeful a young man lives in the region.

"The Curse" gets five out of five bookmarks from me, with a vote for Best Debut Suspense in 2009! I know it's early in the year...but I don't see it getting much better than this.

Hey this book sounds great too. Yes I know I'm not a "suspense" gal but seems like your reviews of these books pique my interest more often than I'd like - LOL.
In fact Brandilyn convinced me to read her latest - Dark Pursuit - instead of joining her BHCC or at least before I join LOL.
Anyways it's good to see you've got things back to normal here again.
