Rhapsody in Red by Donn Taylor

If you keep hearing melodies in your head while reading a delightful murder mystery, you've probably discovered Donn Taylor and his first novel in a promising series, published by Moody Publishers! An unusual quirk in an unusual detective, music didn't charm the savage beast murdering professors.

"Rhapsody In Red" introduces University history professor Preston (Press) Barclay, a former military man now in seclusion save for his job. When fellow professor Mara Thorn comes to him in trouble, the grumpy professorial stereotype makes its debut.

But when the two of them discover a dead body on campus mere days before a holiday break, the music begins and things get interesting very quickly! Mara, the resident Wiccan on what used to be a Christian campus, has sparked controversy and debate just from being on staff.

Nothing sparks trouble more than a murdered professor with a shady background. Problem is, who wanted Laila Sloan dead? Too many suspects spark too many possibilities, and the local law has a grudge to settle with Press...is that why he AND Mara are suspects?

With wit, whimsy and a whole lot of mayhem, Donn Taylor has created a memorable duo who find God in the most unlikely of places and ways. While enjoying the mystery, I found the atmosphere on campus disturbing...and all too accurate, in my opinion.

We need to learn from this new novelist how to pray for our colleges and universities across our country, as well as get to know a crime solving team unlike any other I've stumbled across.

I'm hoping for a sequel, and I think you will be, too, once you've sampled "Rhapsody in Red". I give it five out of five bookmarks, with a ham and cheese sandwich as a charm...enjoy!

Happy Reading!

I have added to this on my Amazon wishlist. I did not see it at Barnes and Noble the other night. :(
